General

Star College, in its language policy, is a Private School with its language of instruction as English. Accordingly, learners admitted to the school will need to be sufficiently proficient in English so as not to prejudice their academic progress.
The School provides a racially, culturally and socioeconomically diverse environment, with provision made to encourage ALL learners.
No form of unfair discrimination will be practiced in the selection of learners to the school.

PROCEDURE OF ENROLLMENT

Application

All applications are required to be made in writing on the school's prescribed application form, together with documentary proof requested to be annexed thereto. Once the fully completed application forms are received, as well as all supporting documents, the applicant will be given a date to write the “School Entrance / Scholarship Exam.”

Entrance / Scholarship Exam

All Primary School applicants will be assessed by a Skill Evaluation Test and all High School applicants will seat for an Entrance / Scholarship Exam.

1 - COMPLETED APPLICATION REGISTRATION FORM
2 - 1 x IDENTITY PHOTO OF LEARNER
3 - 2 x CERTIFIED COPIES OF UNABRIDGED BIRTH CERTIFICATE (INCLUDING PARENTS' DETAILS) or Proof of application thereof.
4 - LATEST SCHOOL REPORT/PROGRESS REPORT OF LEARNER
5 - TRANSFER CARD (To be submitted to the school office on the first day of school)
6 - CERTIFIED COPIES OF BOTH PARENTS I.D. DOCUMENTS and ACCOUNT PAYEE
7 - LATEST PAYSLIPS OF BOTH PARENTS AND ACCOUNT PAYEE
8 - CLINIC CARD OF LEARNER
9 - PROOF OF RESIDENCE OF PAYEE AND WHERE CHILD LIVES
10 - PROOF OF EMPLOYMENT FOR BOTH PARENTS AND ACCOUNT PAYEE
11 - PROOF OF BANK ACCOUNT FOR ACCOUNT PAYEE (WITH OFFICIAL BANK STAMP)
12 - COPY OF CURRENT SCHOOL'S LATEST ACCOUNT STATEMENT
13 - STUDY PERMIT (ALL FOREIGN STUDENTS)

Interview

An Interview is conducted with both Parent/Guardian and Learner (for high school applications). Interviewing takes place in the second/third term for admission in January of the following year.

Placement

After initial acceptances are confirmed by the school, the non-refundable and non-deductible Registration Fee is required to be paid to secure the placement at the school.

Star College Pretoria is an Independent, English Medium School, established by Horizon Educational Trust. Our Grade 12s write the Independent Examination administered by the IEB. We still follow the CAPS curriculum, placing emphasis on application of knowledge, critical thinking and reasoning beyond the textbook. Therefore, preparing our GrRR-12s to be ready for the comprehensive IEB Examinations as well as life after school.
