Principal's Message

Dear Star College website visitors, students, staff and parents:

Thank you for visiting our website and welcome to the 2024 school year! I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous year and we trust that we will be able to see learners in the classroom 5 days per week for the full duration of this academic year.

I trust that our website is a valuable source of information about our school and reflects our commitment to education and the vision that we have for all our learners.

Our commitment at Star College Pretoria is to provide a safe and intellectually challenging environment, but also creating a space of belonging and acceptance that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers, inspired learners and responsible citizens prepared to thrive in the twenty-first century.

We frequently refer to our “Star College Family”, as we want our school family to be an extension of your family.

High standards and expectations for each student with regards to academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and caring individuals are the foundation of our school. It is with pride that we hold these high standards and ask each of our students to commit to maintaining the extraordinary record of achievement. It is the contribution of our students to our school community that makes Star College an exceptional learning community in Pretoria for the past 10 years. Full participation in academic and co-curricular programs and a willingness to act responsibly as an individual within our educational environment are the factors that enable all to have a successful and enjoyable year.

Our school community is dedicated to providing our students with a well-rounded educational experience.  While the core curriculum is provided for all students, we believe that it is critical to provide leadership opportunities, character education and exposure to the technologies in order to prepare students to compete with their global counterparts.

We aim to create a secure, nurturing yet challenging environment that is built on positive relationships; developing the whole student – emotionally, socially and academically. We care for and appreciate each of our students as the unique individuals that they are, each with distinct talents, interests and needs, and each with different qualities to serve the community.

We want each of our students to enjoy schooling with the values of respect, cooperation, persistence and striving for excellence underpinning all that they do. Our students develop responsibility for their own behaviour and the choices they make, and also a communal responsibility to assist their peers to do the same. Our students become strong in self-esteem and personal expectation and develop a healthy and respectful tolerance for others.

Contributing to the basic needs of our surrounding community are a big part of who we are, and we want you to be involved in this culture of giving. Star College is a place of learning, belonging and growth, and we thank you for being a part of our family and school.
